Life stories
There is a kind of drama in black and white drawings—I think the contrast between dense black and bright white brings to mind edges and extremes. And the gray that shows up between or surrounding those clearly defined areas can soften and unite those differences. Working with different black and white media is always a discovery for me: how does the paper respond to the medium?...where does the stuff stick?...what does erasing do? All of those questions, when answered, create a story.
These are all small drawings on paper—I think they create a feeling of intimacy and a miniature view of the world.
